I think it’s time for a change.

I’m not very big on commenting on what’s going on with my day-to-day, but I have been advised that it’s really cheating those that truly care about me the 411 on what I have been up to, and how life is treating me. So here goes:

I am expecting my first baby!

Baby McCarty Party (as my friends call it)will be here mid June. My love, Ornella and I are not wanting to know the sex until they show up on the scene, and I tell you “The waiting feel is fine”. Because of this, I understood that life was about to expect more out of me than before, and I want more than anything to be the best father I can be, so back in November I tried out for America’s got Talent.
Now, many of you that know me, know that I have never really been about, or believed in those shows, but this life is no longer about me, so I sat in line by my lonesome for HOURS, and auditioned. The show airs May 14th on NBC, and I am contractually obligated to NOT say a word about what happens in this TV show. The whole experience is one of the coolest things I have been apart of, and I thank my unborn child for motivating me to do it!

God is truly amazing, and I can’t be more thrilled with this life of mine, and I am so grateful to everyone that I have been able to share my life with!

Push Ultra Lounge St. Pete, Florida – February 3, 2012

Fun. That’s all I can really say. This trip was a little different than usual. Our regular Sound man, Brian, was out on tour, and we had a new guy that never ran sound before…YIKES!!! He was one of the nicest people we have run into on our travels, which did help make the situation better. Because it was all of our first experience together, we didn’t finish sound check until 9:55, when we usually start the show at 9:30, which meant there were fans(friends)standing there watching us sound check, which is the equivalent of us feeling naked on stage. It’s just a bit awkward, “Testing…testing…1-2″. And of course there is the occasional SQUEAK!! Which invariably has the onlookers Grabbing their ears and screaming “OW!!” or “Whoa!!”, and sometimes my beloved expletive(I’m sure I don’t have to write one out for you.)! #$%#, and all the while looking at ME as if I was the criminal mastermind with the intent of making their ears bleed! Sigh. Can’t win.

The one problem with ending sound check 5 minutes before playing is just that, we only have 5 MINUTES to relax from a rather frustrating situation, and then play for an hour and 45 minutes straight. Don’t get me wrong, I am in no way complaining about my awesome job, I’m just saying I don’t remember concentrating/working on something for 2 hours, and then working another (roughly)2hrs straight again on something physically draining. But the night was just beginning.

The show was a lot of fun, there were more people out to see us than I could remember last time we were there, my little Brother Rory and his wife showed up, a couple that we are working on performing at their wedding showed up, and Brendan showed up. Who is Brendan you ask? Brendan(Don’t worry B. I’ll protect your anonymity) works for Push, and sometimes makes me fliers(he’s really good at doing what he does), and Brendan was in rare form tonight. He cleared the floor and proceeded to BREAK DANCE, which, if you know me at all, only gave me the dancing bug, and I GOT OFF THE STAGE and together we stated killing it, some people call it battling, I am not good enough to “Battle” anyone, and I think Brendan was too Drunk to think the same thing, so we will call it two high-on-life dudes Breaking it down to the beat!

At the end of the night we toasted to our ancestors and the rest of the night was Irie! Fun. Don’t miss the next time we are at PUSH!

Hard Rock Tampa- Jan 15th 2012

Hard Rock Cafe shows are cool. Period. When we get there we have to give them out Driver’s License so we can eat with the staff. Eating with the staff is like a movie. There is a table of security, there is the table of actual Police, and there are the table of the cocktail waitresses, and as soon as we walk in they STOP THEIR CONVERSATIONS AND JUST STARE AT US
with the “You don’t belong here” look. Then on clockwork, they resume their eating and don’t look back. I say it feels like a movie, because I have never seen anything like that, as if it was scripted. After a brief stint with Hard Rock’s finest cuisine, I took off to the poker table. Recently I have found myself to be a “High Roller” at the 1/2 table($1 for small blind, and $2 for big blind—yeah, I’m a “high Roller” alright). One of the greatest gifts God gave me was the gift of Luck. I honestly AM the Luckiest Guy on the planet. I could write a book about it. So in my first three hands I got Ace-King, King-Kin, And then the
mighty Pocket Aces, of which I won every hand, pushed two people into “All in” scenarios(I apologies if you don’t play poker, and have no clue what I am saying, all I can say is…catch up! ) and I won $200 after quick games I stood up to leave, which left my competitors a bit bothered, yet relieved that I left. The first musical set was Acoustic, which I absolutely Love. This day my knee was really giving me issues(first sign I’m getting old), so sitting in a stool was A OK with me! The next 2 sets the rest of the crew played and we straight ROCKED IT! The people that were there were beautiful, and they seemed to enjoy themselves quite a bit! All in all we can’t wait to come back, win some money, and rock the house again!

Jannus Live St. Pete – January 6, 2012

Happy New Year again everybody! This was the first show of the year, and what a way to start off the New Year! We played in front of 0ver 1200 people that were some of the most excited we have come across in St. Pete!
At one point I was out in the crowd dancing with people while Scott Free was singing “Kiss” from Prince! This was just a magical night where all the guys on stage were “on”, and it really was because of the crowd! Just

Napolatanos Gainesville – 10.22.11

Ever since I was a kid, I loved playing outside. My parents had the,”When the street light comes on, come home” rule. It’s crazy to me that it’s like pulling fingers to get kids outside now-a-days, but anyways..Napolatanos is quickly becoming a favorite place to play of mine, because I get to perform outside in their garden. I know some of you reading that probably got visions of me dancing around in carrots and tomatoes, and maybe throwing them around, no, although that would make for an interesting show..

What Napolatanos did was set up all their outside patio tables, and spread them across the back lawn(Garden) which created a beautiful ambiance to go along with some beautiful people I might add! There honestly is nothing better than being outside 70 degree weather, with the sun going down, and your family and friends in good spirits listen
to songs. Can’t beat it!

The first 10 people that showed up got a free CD, of which I’m proud to announce I sold out of! THANK YOU GAINESVILLE! Some people even after getting free cd, came up and bought another, which is another reason
why I love playing back home, because the support is unreal! There were little kids playing in the background, the high-pitched laughter always makes the scene friendly. Have you ever thought how life would be if there were no kids laughing…THE HORROR!

The highlight of the show was this nice young woman, named Lisa, came up and asked me if I would play a song. The funny thing about that, was at the beginning of the show I kindly persuaded the crowd NOT to request a song, because of the awkward moment it presents when I don’t know said song. They experience the “Deer in the headlights” look from me, and then instantly I’m not so cool, and at the same time once I see that in their eyes, my defensive walls emerge, and I think that they are just needy! I’m JOKING PEOPLE! This moment, however, Lisa was asking me to play good old “Brown Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison. I tell you the last time I played that was probably 10 years ago. Regretfully I declined, and yes, she was LET DOWN, then in came the awkward moment, which was intensified after she let me know it was her Birthday. So, I put my ego aside, and gave it a go…Its amazing the human brain I tell you. I actually REMEMBERED the first two verses, and the crowd was singing along in my weak, at best, attempt to give the Brown Eyed girl what she wanted on her birthday! Notice how I said I remembered “the first TWO verses”. I didn’t attempt the third. It’s like poker, You got to know when to fold ‘em, so I got out when I looked like I knew what I was doing!

All in all, Napolatanos LOVED the crowd that came, “You sure do bring a crowd!”, and I made it home safely. It was a great time with over 100 people throughout the night coming to watch! I can’t wait for the next one!

Salina Performance – Last Day

Salina- Last day

The last day we played two shows for the beautiful people of Salina. The first show we were on the main stage, and it was PACKED! A great thing about being at a festival for three days straight is by the last day me and the guys are “Dialed in”. When you play loose, that is when there is more of a chance for the magic of music to be heard and seen! At the end of the show I believe that I was selling my latest cds for close to an hour!

The second, and final show was one for the ages! We played on the last stage, and got a warm introduction from the stage manager. When I looked out into the crowd I saw so many people from the previous shows, and there were a bunch of kids sitting down in front of the stage. LOVE IT! We ended up playing longer than they asked, because the audience was chanting, “Encore! Encore!”. What a feeling. There was a young woman that attended ALL of the 5 shows, and during the show I gave her a “Chris McCarty” T-shirt, it was the least I could do for her making me feel so special. After the show I sold the rest of my cds. It’s a thing that makes you believe even more that you are here for a real purpose, and have a gift that others see and believe too. I can’t thank the people of Salina more. You all were great, and I plan on seeing you next year!
